"Kalasääski" (Osprey), a simple hut and a new sauna building for about 5-7 persons, is located in the middle of Finland in the heart of Southern Konnevesi National park. Situated on Vääräsaari island the hut is surrounded by perfect possibilities e.g. for kayaking and canoeing and this is perfect "coolcation" destination. There are two sand beaches, rocky banks, beautiful nature and lots of quietness right outside of the hut. If you keep your eyes open your are able to see ospreys. There many of them in Lake Konnevesi and the nearest nest is just about 1 km away. But do not enter too near to the osprey nest. Mosquitoes not any problem, there are very few of them and near the hut is often slightly wind such that even those few ones are not any problem.
The old building (37 m2) consists of one large room and smaller room. In the main room there is a kitchen corner, a dining table, rocking chair and simple wooden bunk bed for 4 persons and small sleeping alcove for 1 person. There is a fireplace for warming as well as a stove warmed up by wood. The kitchen corner is equipped with a gas stove as well and an electric fridge. The hut has solar power so you are able e.g. to charge you mobile phones.
In addition to the older hut there is now a new sauna building with splendid views on Lake Konnevesi. This new sauna building has a loft bed for two persons.
You have also available also two sup boards, a rowing boat and a canoe to look around Lake Konnevesi.
The most convenient way to reach Kalasääski is to paddle there. Kayaks and canoes are available e.g. in KalajaRetkeily company kalajaretkeily.fi/fi/. We have also a few kayaks available. It's also possible to get a boat ride to the island by a local fisherman (and buy fresh fish too).
